Garth Brooks

I waited at the front window of my parents house for hours, waiting for a boy to come get me and take me to the Garth Brooks concert in SLC, which was also his final tour...and I got stood up.  Twenty years later....he is coming back on tour and I am ecstatic that I got tickets.  He did 5 shows in Portland, the one I attended being the last one, and it was well worth it.  Such a great entertainer and musician.

Sale Pending

YAY!!! We are so excited.  We had an offer and accepted it on the 6th day it was listed.

Now we have a few things to do before the inspection next week and then appraisal as soon as that is complete....very stressful...and then we will start looking for a new one.  We have signed to rent the house back from the buyers for one month, which will help us greatly in not having to rush and settle for anything we can find.

For Sale...

No April Fool's joke here....we have jumped in both feet first and decided to list our house and move to the other side of Portland to be closer to Ethan's school and a shorter commute to Salem for Jeff.  Exciting and scary all at the same time.  Our agent is, Carol, my very good friend Amy's mom.

Below is the link for the house listing.

Spring Soccer starts...

Ethan is excited for the season to start.  It has been really nice weather the last couple of weeks and of course the rain decides to return right as practice started. With all we have going on at the moment I decided I would let someone else take over the reigns of coaching.  Ethan was very excited to have a few of his same teammates from last season on his team.  Go Timbers!!

Partial Knee Replacement

At the beginning of this year Jeff was finally able to get an appointment with a physician to discuss options for his long-term left knee problems.  He has had it operated on 3 times previously, the last being 5 years ago, with no relief from the pain.  He had an MRI done and it showed the medial (inner) portion of his knee to be bone-on-bone.  He was given two different options and opted for a partial knee replacement.  Today was surgery day and it has been a long time coming so we are very excited and hopeful that relief is in sight.

One week after surgery.

First day of physical therapy.  He has now been in physical therapy for a couple of weeks and is doing really well.

This seems like a great pillow for me.

Ethan did a wax museum presentation about Harriet Tubman at school.

Just a few days before I turned over 200k someone ran into the side of my Landcruiser while on my way to pick up Ethan from school, however, I did get a new bumper out of the deal.  My car held up exceptionally well compared to the Acura he had.
Happy 5th Birthday Charlie!  Finally turning into a good dog with just a few mischievous moments.

First day of 2nd grade at M.I.T.C.H.

YAY!  We are all very excited for Ethan to be starting at M.I.T.C.H. today.  This second half of 2nd grade is going to be awesome!  Since the school is in Tualatin, which is at least 30 minutes away in good traffic, and drop off starts at 7:30am for 7:45 start time, Jeff and Ethan have to leave about 6:45am, so unfortunately we have to get Ethan up and going at 6am.  Since I don't start work until 9 on school days I am able to get him up and ready while Jeff is getting ready, which worked out pretty well this week.  They do have uniforms but are very flexible with them, meaning they can wear any color polo shirt and either black, blue or tan pants, but no jeans except on Friday field trip days.  He also has P.E. twice a week and they have them wear their P.E. clothes to school for the day, which is a Navy blue t-shirt with their logo and Navy blue workout shorts or sweat pants.

School is Monday-Thursday with Fridays off except for the third Friday of the month when they have a field trip of some sort.  I then pick up Ethan from school, as I get off work at 2pm and school gets out at 3:15.  As Fridays are my 10hr work days, Jeff is dropping Ethan off at a sitter by the house for 3 of the 4 Fridays and he will take the Friday off on the Field Trip days.

Already this week I have been so impressed with the school and his teacher, Mrs. Turner.  She has a newsletter that she posts on the school website that tells the parents about the homework for the week.  She also has sent a few different emails with helpful information.  Lastly, he has homework that is actually challenging him, which is great to see.  He has 2 sheets of math problems that include geometry, multiplication, time and measurements as well as a sheet of addition or subtraction, and then also has spelling words that he has to write sentences with.  Such a massive improvement from the last school.  He also was very excited to get to go to art class and computer class.  I believe he is going to have a much better second half of the year.

Always have to have a silly picture.

New Years Day! GO DUCKS!

Since it was just the 3 of us celebrating Christmas/New Years this time it was pretty quiet and very relaxing.  We took advantage of our quiet time with some family games, movies, cleaning us the decorations from Christmas and then cheered on the Oregon Ducks in the Rose Bowl.  The Ducks dominated the game 59-20 over Florida State University.  They are now onto the first-ever College Championship game, which will be held on Monday, January 12 in Texas against the Ohio State Buckeyes.  GO DUCKS!

 Puffy muscles provided by Spiderman..haha
